Helping the Community

Wow! Catherine and I are so excited! Rockland's Maison de la Famille has approached us to collaborate with them on a special project for National Child's Day!
On Nov. 21st, we will be setting up at the center, where 25 families will receive a free photo shoot of their sweet angels, and get a print, too!
We feel proud and thankful to be given this opportunity. Both Catherine and I have taken our own children to the family center, so this is very special! To be able to give back to the community is truly something we both hold dear to our hearts.
We are looking forward to working with all those kiddies!

Reaman-Duetta Family

This fall we had the pleasure of photographing this family for their very first Family Portraits! It was so great to be able to do this for them. And then to see all the beautiful portraits that we took.  We know they will treasure them forever.

2 Weeks Later
It always feels so wonderful to see looks of delight and surprise from our clients as they view their images for the first time.
When you hear a mom say she might need Kleenex, you know you've reached your goal! You've created portraits that evoke emotions. Made us need Kleenex too.

Back To School!

Did you get you child's school pictures back? Excited? Looking for something a little... different? We're having our Back to School Promo on for one more day this Friday! Book your session now and get school pics to remember!

Road Trip!!!!

Is there anything better then taking a road trip with your family? Do you remember road trips from when you were a kid?

We're getting ready to take one all the way to Nova Scotia to see our wonderful family and have a bit of fun! But sometimes the drive out is not so fun....

"Are we there yet?"
"I have to go pee!"
"I'm hungry!"
"Why are we doing this anyways?"

And on and on and ON......

Well this trip I promised myself would be different! I am making my 7 going on 17 year old boy a bin that will definitely keep him entertained!

On the lid I will glue a flat large piece of Lego.... So inside the box will be some Lego of course!  Maybe a surprise kit as well.  Something that goes with our trip, sea animals, boats.... will figure that one out tomorrow!

He will also be able to use the lid to colour his colouring books, or play some of the other games.

Here is a wonderful site chalked full of fantastic games to play:

We want to buy Battleship for Nicholas to play, but as a trial, we are going to try the printable version.  In addition there is always good old Car Bingo! Plus I plan on printing out maps of where we are going and getting him a compass to learn how to navigate our way.

If all this fails I will have a few more ideas up my sleeve that I have found on Pinterest.  If you decide to search Pinterest, be careful not to get lost!

I hope this gives you ideas on how to enjoy your road trips (short or long).

See you all soon!

Free Portrait Sessions

Thought I was offering one? Sorry no.  Just discussing the value of one.

Let's see - what do you get?
  • A professional photographer taking your picture
  • Usually a Facebook edition, or a 5x7 print or maybe even an 8x10
What do I get:
  • Images that I can use for specific promotions or to refresh my portfolio (but only for a limited time as it has to stay fresh)
What does it "cost" you?
  • Maybe an hour of your time for the session
  • Another hour for the reveal
  • Some time spent communicating with me to figure out what you are to bring
  • If I've missed something please let me know.
What does it "cost" me?
  • A few days of designing the promo
  • A few days for designing the set
  • Time spent planning the session
  • All the time I spend communicating with each person that inquires the details of the offer
  • The time I spend, after confirming participation, discussing what to wear with each person
  • Time spent designing documents to help them figure out what to bring/wear
  • An hour at least pre-shoot to set up
  • Refreshments that I usually provide
  • My shooting time
  • My time spent editing the images (8 hours or more)
  • My time during the reveal to help you choose which you like the most or helping you figure out what you want to order.
  • Preparing the files for your order
  • Packaging and providing care instructions for your products.
  • On top of all this you have the usual costs of running a business
    • rent
    • utilities
    • internet / phone
    • education
    • business license
    • website fee's
    • insurance
    • education
    • equipment
    • did I mention education
    • advertising costs
    • memberships
    • cost of goods sold (COGS) - or in this case possibly given
Now with that laid out there, does it make sense for me to jeopardize my name and my career and my business by using your images in a derogatory manner? Do you think I'm going to choose poor pictures to use in my advertising after all the work I've done to acquire them?

Oh and by the way, all that I do above is done for every client that I have. Now have a look at what I do and what I charge and what I create for you.

ok rant over.

Family Photography

I absolutely love it when I get a family to come in, and I help them capture how special they all are!

Here is a family that came in to celebrate their newest arrival.  They were so wonderful to work with!
They were referred to me by a member from the Clarence Rockland Photography Club.
